A long, long time ago, in ye olde times, selfish dragons decided to betray each other in order to steal each other's gold and become the richest and most powerful of them all. To do so, each dragon hired a thief to do their dirty work. However, being the notorious thieves that they are, the Thieves Guild decided to offer their services to all of the dragons. The thieves took on the various jobs to prove their skills and become the richest among the guild. For bragging rights, of course.
Dragons & Thieves is inspired from the notorious classic family board games of the past. With the recent revival of board games from millennials, the objective of this project is to bring back the classic board game experience. The objective of the game is to collect as much gold as possible before the turns are up. This can be achieved through our combat system. However, with various actions, events, traps, and other game changing spaces, this task may prove to be difficult after all. The game is filled with unique dragons and thieves, all of which have their own strengths, weaknesses, and abilities (thieves only), that will change the way you play.
The objective of the game is to be the player with the most gold in your hoard before two years are up. The game progresses one month at a time, and each month is completed when all players have taken their turn.
Every player starts with 1 dragon and 1 thief, as well as a starting amount of gold in their hoard and 2 action cards.
Turn sequence and board direction are both clockwise. Each turn, players can choose to roll either 1 or 2 dice to move their thief. During a player's turn, there can be many different interactions depending on the space they land on.
When moving around the board, players are required to enter every dragon hoard except their own and any hoard not in play. The goal in a hoard is to reach the combat space to initiate combat.
Combat determines whether or not a player is successful in stealing gold from an opponent. The outcome is determined by a dice roll, which is also affected by a player's dragon or thief stats. Players can upgrade their stats at shops for a greater chance at being successful in combat.
Players can also choose to use any action cards in their hand at any time during their turn for various outcomes.
At the end of two years, the player with the most gold wins the game.
The Kickstarter has not been funded yet! Once it is, everyone that helps contribute to the project via funding will have their names posted here as thanks for helping to back this project.
